The Hunts Point Multi-Service Santiago Grevi Community Residence is a bilingual multi cultural community residence (Halfway House) for recovering men and woman chemical abusers ages 18 and over Persons admitted to the program must do so voluntarily, aware of their need for structured residential living, active peer interaction and continued intensive out-patient in an alcoholism outpatient clinic or rehabilitation program. The residence with a 24 bed capacity, will function as an integral component of the Hunts Point Multi-Service System and more specifically as an expansion of our Outpatient alcoholism Unit. All residents will receive outpatient alcoholism clinic services at Hunts Point Alcoholism Clinic and other HPMSC components as needed. Length of stay will be from 6 to 8 months. Staff to client ratio will be that of 5 residents to 1 counselor. The Halfway House’s program will consist of the following three basic components:
PHASE I - EDUCATION, ASSESSMENT & EVALUATION
During this time, both resident and staff become more familiar with the exact nature of the problem and its degree. Staff has an opportunity to observe the resident for a 4-8 week period in order to determine the length and kind of services needed by the resident after this initial program phase.
PHASE II- REINTEGRATION
After an assessment/treatment plan is completed, the resident moves into PHASE II which has an average participation of 8 weeks. This phase of the Program has been designed to help facilitate the resident’s transition to an independent living status.
PHASE II - is less restrictive and structured; it places more of the responsibility for emotional growth and community reintegration on the resident.
PHASE III- INDEPENDENT LIVING
This is the final phase of the resident’s reintegration into the community. It encourages the resident to live as independent life as possible in the community while still residing in the House. During this period, the resident continues to receive the services and support of the Program but, is functioning in the community as a more self-sufficient and supporting individual.
